Seychelles Marine Protection

In 2018, the Seychelles government announced two new marine protected areas in the country's remote Indian Ocean archipelago; the largest the world has ever seen. The announcement has reaping benefits across all sectors of marine life; from regrowing coral reefs, protecting endangered fish populations, and even further protecting the Aldabra giant tortoise.

However, the new protected areas mean a new way of life for the fishermen who subsist on fishing in the pristine waters.
