War Horses
On the coast of Mozambique, a herd of horses with an unusual story can be found. These equine were smuggled out of Zimbabwe during the violent land seizures that forced Amanda and Patrick Retzlaff with the decision to either let the horses face certain death, or to somehow escape with them across the border.
Today, the Retzlaffs and their horses take refuge outside the seaside town of Vilanculos. There they offer horseback riding safaris for tourists, as well as employment for the local impoverished community who have come to love and look after these special horses.
